2024-2025 Board, Program Leads & Staff Liaisons

Co-President: Dune Ives & Nicole Gilmore

Dune and Nicole help set the agenda and ensure the PTO By-Laws are adhered to and all voices are brought to the table.

Dune is one of two PTO members who qualify for all of the available vaccines and when she isn't supporting her 5th grader she can be seen on the pickleball court. "We all love our LP Brown school and community so much! The end of school will involve a lot of ugly crying."

Nicole grew up in Olympia and is a proud LP Brown alum. She has two sweet kids, one is in Kindergarten and the other is a 2nd grader. Nicole is a former environmental educator for a local shellfish company and is currently a part-time barista and full time SAHM. She loves being outdoors, spending time with family and competing in triathlons. “Making a full circle back to this wonderful school has brought me so much joy and I look forward to supporting and serving our community.”

Teacher Representative: Sherri Russell, Kindergarten

A PTO is only as strong as the relationship between the parents who volunteer their time and talents and the teacher representative who ensures staff are well aware of and can inform the activities of the PTO. Sherri Russell is that amazing teacher representative and we would be lost without her support and encouragement.

Sherri has lived in Olympia for 28 years and raised 2 boys in the Olympia School District.  She and her husband spend free time with family and taking walks, especially on the beach. Sherri has been a proud LP Brown Kindergarten teacher for 13+ years.  "I love working with the children and families of LP Brown."

Vice-President: Lauren Lowe

Lauren is responsible for volunteer coordinating, organizing our community events, and keeping track of all of our supplies.

Lauren is a former Elementary School teacher turned preschool teacher and a mother to two amazing sons, one is a Kindergartener and the other is a 3rd grader. She loves having fun and putting that energy into everything she does for this incredible community. "Thank you for letting me serve as your Vice President for the past 3 years!"

Principal: Sean Shaughnessy

The agenda of the PTO is to serve the needs of the staff, teachers, and students of the school. Key to its success is a strong partnership between the PTO and the school Principal. Principal Shaughnessy is absolutely delightful to work with - always supportive, always transparent, always engaged.

Co-Treasurer: Erik Froyd & Kayla Iverson

Erik and Kayla are an amazing PTO financial team ensuring our books are in order and we modernize our systems.

Erik is a small business owner, retired CFO, and proud dad of a 5th grader at LP Brown. "My first introduction to the PTO was participating in Trunk-or-Treat, and I'm grateful I could volunteer my expertise to support such an important effort."

Kayla is a non-profit executive with one kid at LP Brown and one future Eagle. "Serving on the board has been such an honor --to advocate for and support our amazing neighborhood school."

Co-Secretary: MJ McKean & Kristin Fox

MJ and Kristin share the important job of documenting our decisions and deliberations, engaging our online community, and ensuring our files are well-organized.

MJ is a middle school music teacher, violin teacher and performing artist. She is also the parent of three awesome kiddos and has been a PTO Board member since 2023. "I love supporting the LP Brown community."

Kristin is a bartender turned barista and now a homemaker and mother of two daughters. Her oldest is in Kindergarten and loving every minute of it! "Serving on the Board has brought me so much joy, friendship and a greater sense of belonging in our local community!"

School Garden Lead
Beth Woods

Beth has an LP Brown alumni and a second child still at LP Brown. She has been the vision and passion behind the school garden.

Yearbook Lead
Amy Myrtue Nelson

Over the past 23 years Amy has lived within walking distance of L.P. Brown. These past four years, she has been overjoyed to have a student attending LPB! Amy spent years as a dietitian specializing in kidney disease working in a nearby hospital. She enjoys meeting up at the playground, walks, cooking meals and going to community events with her family. Amy has been working hard as our Yearbook coordinator this year!
